I have always felt connected to nature especially the sea. The rolling tides, the crystal blue water, and the sand between my toes. Actually it has been scientifically proven that grounding, a therapeutic technique involves doing activities that “ground” or electrically reconnect you to the earth.
Grounding techniques are very useful when we feel extremely distressed, especially if the distress seems very detached or unreal. Have you ever felt so drained but once you go outside for a walk you feel so much better? When you learn how to ground yourself, you will be able to gain a deeper understanding of your own body and how it works.
It is believed that through grounding, the natural defenses of the body can be restored. This is perfect for your overall skin health and your ritual of mindful beauty.
Grounding techniques
A few ways you can ground yourself is through wading in a clear lake or swimming in the ocean. Also, the ocean water is choke-full of rich minerals containing nutrients that our skin needs including magnesium, potassium, calcium, selenium, sodium, and sulfur.
Another way is by walking barefoot which is my favorite. You can do this on grass, sand, or even mud if you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Those who are close to the beach try to walk barefoot on the sand. The sand is electrically charged with an excess of negative ions, which are absorbed through the soles of the feet. The negatively charged ions provide a strong source of antioxidants in the body. It produces many health benefits and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
So if all possible take a moment even if it’s just your backyard to take those shoes off and allow your skin to touch the natural ground and just…..relax
